I entered US on student visa. My passport got expired in November'16 and I got a new passport issued. Now I am going to apply for H1B visa in April'17. Do I need to update my new passport information with USCIS?
Yes, you certainly do. The USCIS on March 3, 2017 announced the suspension of the premium process for all H-1B nonimmigrant visas for a six (6) month period effective on April 3rd. This announcement comes only weeks before the April 1st H-1B Cap Deadline for filing the 65,000 Bachelors Equivalency Cap and 20,000 Masters Cap cases for 2017-2018. While H-1B premium processing is suspended, petitioners will not be able to file Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service for Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, which requests the H-1B nonimmigrant classification. USCIS announced that it will notify the public before resuming premium processing for H-1B petitions.
