I got caught shoplifting. The merchandise was returned and was not harmed. It was all under $20. I went to jail and plead guilty and am now paying a fine on it. I never should have even plead guilty, I didn't even walk out the doors, plus the merchandise was not in my purse it was under my jacket. I wasn't even close to the door to walk out when a woman grabbed me by my arm and accused me of trying to walk out the door. She had no idea what I was gonna do. Whether I was or not. The only reason I went ahead and plead guilty was to get it over with I was highly embarrassed and just wanted to get it over with. So I really don't feel like I should I have to pay this $200 payment to them. Please give me some advice. I'd rather pay it then go back to jail if that's a possibility. If not then I'm not even worried about it.
What you received is called a civil demand letters. I'm not licensed in MS, but the vast majority of attorneys across the country advise to NOT pay and ignore all letters. They will not pursue action in civil court as its not worth their time or expense.
