Do I need the bank account number to have the Peititon to Probate served and freeze the account? My sister and brother are not dividing the inheritance with me. I found a copy of my Mother’s Will which I discovered I am the executor. I cease referred to an attorney who finally filed the Petition to Probate but doesn’t keep me informed of the status of anything. I have yet to see the actual petition. I need help please!!! Thank you.
You do not need the account number. You do need to know the name of the bank.
Have you signed the petition? The petition cannot be filed without your signature.
After filing, a hearing is scheduled 4 to 5 weeks later and notice is sent to all heirs and those named in the will. You would not get mailed notice, but the attorney should email you the petition.
When the person gives you money, the person has an attorney and the attorney has a client, but not until then. Inspired by words of Abraham Lincoln
No, just provide a death certificate but it sounds like you have bigger problems than that and need to get a new attorney who will respond to you.
Yes you do and if the sister and brother know if it, then they can be forced to provide this. Time to hire another probate attorney who knows what they are doing.
