At my arraignment for petty theft, I spoke to the prosecutor beforehand and she agreed to dismiss the charges. The judge said the charges were dropped but then handed me a summons for book and release form and said I HAD to get booked within 48 hours. I have been advised by a defense lawyer that I do not and should not show up for that. Is he correct? It says failure to be booked and released could cause a warrant for my arrest??... follow up question: if that charge is dismissed, can I get into Canada?
They use the fingerprints to track the offense in the system. Usually when dismissed they don't care. Call the court and ask. If they insist, do it. Canada should not care if dismissed.
