I want to start dropshipping. I will be the only person doing it so essentially I’m going to do a single member LLC. I was told by a subdivision of the SBA called Score for small businesses that I did not need an EIN because I will be a disregarded entity. But I want to open a business account. I was told I could use my SSN since it is only me. I just want to do this business legally and properly.
I teach the portions of the SCORE course on setting up and managing a small business regarding legal entity selection and taxes. While I can’t say why someone from SCORE would have told you that you don’t need an EIN, I can tell you that you are required to get an EIN if you are an LLC.
