I hired a probate attorney to settle my case. The case was going to be tried in court and my attorney was not comfortable/competent enough to try the case so he brought in another attorney from the same office. This attorney had experience with trials. I did not sign an agreement with this new attorney and he did not keep records of his time. Now they are threatening to place a claim against me for $5ooo. Is this legal/ethical?
Depends on you engagement agreement with the firm. If you hired the firm, then the only issue left is reasonableness of the fee. I yield to MO counsel on matters of state law.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
