In the divorce decree it states that my ex- husband is supposed to pay half of all medical bills and extracurricular activities for our daughter after I pay the first $250.00. He is not paying any of it and also "prorated" the child support when he had her this summer for 5 weeks. It was $200.00 less than the ordered amount. He chose to do this on his own. I have been in and out of the hospital since May and have grossed leased than half the amount I made last year. I do not have the funds to hire a lawyer to enforce the divorce orders and he will not respond to me when I ask him to pay his portion. I am making payments on her medical and some are in collections. I am not in a position financially that I can hire a lawyer. Are there any other options for me?
You can try and enforce the orders yourself. Go to the Colorado Courts website and look at some of the self-help forms. You could also contact child support enforcement in your area. They would help with some of the enforcement issues (though probably not the medical expenses and extracurricular expenses). They may also assist you in modifying the child support if you are unable to work due to medical issues.
