I appreciate everyones previous responses. But I think I misstated my original statement of legal events. I've been arrested several times. Most of the cases were DA rejects. I was arrested and put on 3 separate trials for Obstruction of Justice, Resisting Arrest, and Domestic Violence. From the Resisting Arrest my shoulder, back, and elbow were damaged. Video from the police officer's vehicle showed the truth of what really happened. Subsequently I was found not guilty on all 3 trials. I've spent untold amounts of monies on attorney and bail bonds fees. Been billed for a hospital trip I never asked for. And received a bill from the State of California for a Public Defender to help prove my innocence. I honestly feel like I should be reimbursed by the City of Alhambra & Alhambra PD. I'm not looking to win the lottery. I just want to be compensated for my lost time, pain (emotional & physical), and mental anguish caused by the Alhambra PD. Being falsely imprisoned. Prosecuted with malice. Unjustly arrested.
Sounds like you have a colorful life. If more than bruises, an excessive force police brutality lawyer can investigate whether the case has legs.
You have a right to sue for wrongful arrest/false imprisonment but the statute may have passed on some of the arrests. Speak to local personal injury counsel should your damages/injuries merit representation.
You have a limited time to bring claims and the time runs for each claim from the date of its occurrence. That means if your injuries happened years ago, and the same officer/police department falsely arrested you last year, the time has run out on the excessive force claim.
