I worked at a laundromat for only a month and a half. I was given good compliments, never had complaints from management. I was scheduled to work at a different location and I went but after awhile I felt sick and I HAD to leave. A couple days after I went to a hospital. have documentation of visiting a hospital and having an illness. I was fired the next day because the bigger bosses weren’t happy with me leaving the store for being sick. Do they have that right?
The State of Florida is an “at-will state” which means that (unless you have an employment contract) your employer may hire, assign, re-assign, re-locate, promote, demote, suspend or even terminate your employment at any time for any reason, other than an illegal reason such as intentional discrimination based on gender, race, national origin, marital status or religion. Unless you can state a claim based upon any of the above classifications, you have no legal recourse other than to quit your job.
