Soon to be ex took out on me for me simply going into my own home while he was at work and removing my clothing only. Nothing else! My job keeps meon the road, and I can't get to Tennessee... I don't live there anymore. I moved out of the state shortly after we separated.
If you fail to appear, your ex will likely obtain a default judgment against you for the relief sought in her petition. Among other things, in an order of protection case that could include a requirement that you stay away from her and avoid all communications with her. It could include an award of temporary custody of the children in her favor. It could include an award of attorney's fees against you in her favor. And if an Order of Protection is granted (which it will almost certainly be if you fail to appear), then you will be required to surrender all of your firearms for the duration of the order of protection. For all of these reasons, it would be wise for you to speak with an attorney about the facts of your case.
