first affence,no priors,or history. Finaly got sober and now my past is coming back to haunt me. Think it was a so called friend trying to lessen a charge on himself got arrested on jan 12 2012 and got a report number but not shure what it means starts out 2010- ? says arrest date 9/16/2010 But was never arrested on that date??? DA Hasn't excepted the charge yet? How long do they have to do this? Can i beat this? Got a letter saying they want me to do 2 years of drug court.I don't have the time are the money to do this!!!!I I NEED HELP...I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN THAT ARE COUNTING ON ME AND NEED ME. THERE MOTHER PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR. I'M SWIMMING WITH BRICKS ON MY BACK RIGHT NOW AND ABOUT TO GO UNDER...... God Help Me....J.M.
It definitely sounds like you have had some tough times lately, especially being that this happened that far back. There is a certain time period that the District Attorney must bring these charges against you, but there are also exceptions to these rules in addition to other circumstances that may interrupt this period.
With that said, I strongly advise you to consult with a local attorney that practices criminal defense. I understand that money may be tight, but even paying for a consultation could be worth it. Worst case, you can possibly get a public defender to represent you.
These are serious charges. I would start with a consultation with a private attorney first.
