My husband and I have been together 16 years married for 7. He is currently serving time in a NJ prison since 2006. His projected parole date Oct 2016. I'm a recent Delaware correctional officer. Will he be able to be paroled to our home in Delaware since I'm law enforcement? Or will this block his parole.
It is up to parole. Leaving the state is always a problem. Have him speak to his social worker and start asking about it now.
Leaving the state can be a problem but it is possibly for the parole supervision to be transferred out of county/state. When it comes time for him to be paroled he will have to submit a plan to the parole unit where he is housed. The plan has to include a proposed residence which can be approved or disapproved. I agree that he should start working on it now to get the ball rolling.
Leaving the state on parole is never easy, but it actually may help that he is leaving to live with someone who is in law enforcement. Check with his social worker in prison to start the process of figuring this out. Good luck!
