My boyfriend is trying to figure out what to do. When his first ex wife and he got a divorce she left their son out of it. So there is no custody agreement but they had made a verbal agreement about how they would do things involving their son. He also pays child support on him that is pulled directly out of his checks. She is now not allowing him to see him. Call him or video chat with him. She has blocked him on Facebook, and changed her phone number. She has not even allowed him to know where his son is. Now he has found out that she is moving him across state lines. He doesnt know what to do or if he can do anything
Your boyfriend should immediately set up an appointment with a knowledgeable local family law attorney to answer his questions and make recommendations about what he should do. He's already made at least one big mistake: not having a written and court approved parenting plan. The only way for him to protect himself is to seek out and follow good legal advice.
This response does not constitute legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. I am licensed to practice only in Kansas. Seek legal advice from an attorney in your state or the state in which your legal claim exists.
