The cop pulled me over because he saw me going in direction on the highway turned off on the exit and proceeded to go in the other direction on the highway. He tailed me for a few minutes until I was about to pull in my driveway.
It was an unmarked vehicle, tinted windows in the back, Chrysler sedan and out of uniform. I wasn't surprised he pulled me over and was waiting for it. When I got off the exit; he looked at me funny. Nothing I'm not used to-- I appear young than I am, African american and I dress very urban.
He asked me for my drivers license and insurance which I provided. He didn't run the license but rather asked me if my license was suspended. He never went back into his car to check anything. He said I pulled you over because you were headed one way and turned again and was heading back in the other way. I thought you were lost.
Can you get pulled over because they thought you was lost? Why didn't he run the check, would that have left a trail? I got the license plate, the vehicle des. and the officer.
Cops can follow you around, especially if you're driving in a way that seems suspicious to them. Being lost, while not illegal at all, can also raise suspicions when your driving around an area. Why didn't he run your license? I have no idea. Cops don't have to. Sounds like you're implying that you were profiled and illegally pulled over. Maybe you were. But since you weren't arrested, ticketed, or anything along those lines nothing is really out there to be done. You can call up the commanding officer at the precinct and let them know about the officer and your thoughts.
What's your harm? He didn't run a check, so wasn't suspecting you of anything, perhaps he was actually just trying to be helpful. But if you feel that strongly about it, go ahead and file a complaint with the local police department.
