I have been working for a large company in the financial industry as a Contractor for almost 2 years now.
I get paid $10.00 an hour, and it's just part-time, with no benefits whatsoever!
I just recently noticed a posrer required by the Labor Department all the way in the back of the office, not at the front where people usually are, but all the way there!
The poster stated that a Contractor should be paid $10.20 an hour and I was floored! No one told me that, not HR, or even the noisy Conpliance Dept. that track everything, and anything!
What can I do? Can I get a lawsuit out if this fiasco?

Neither federal nor State law have a minimum wage rate this high so not sure what the poster could be referring to. Perhaps there is something particular about your position or employment that is not identified in your post. I recommend getting the language from the poster and reaching out to a lawyer of your choosing to determine if there are unpaid wages you can seek. Best of luck.
I am not aware of the poster you reference. You should consult an employment lawyer familiar with the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employers often misclassify employees as independent contractors. This is an easy way to save money at the expense of employees. The key issue will likely be the degree of control the employer exercises over your work. Your class could be very good if you are misclassified as an independent contractor. You should be able to find a lawyer to review your employment relationship in a free consultation.
