I came to US on student visa, got job and started working on h1b. filed 485 two years ago. Now i have Advance Parole document valid from nov2014 to nov2015.
I want to go back to india and come on H1b( I never had h1 stamped on my passport, this will be the first time i go for h1 stamp, last stamp i had was for student visa). I am planning to use Advance Parole as backup if anything goes wrong with h1, my priority is to come back on h1 visa.
Is there anything I have to do when I exit the USA (considering coming back on h1 vs AP) ?
You are smart and have reached the right decision: one must seek to maintain one's non-immigrant status as a back up until the very day that one is finally able to AOS.
There is nothing special you have to do, aside from carrying with you ample proof of your maintaining valid H-1B status: W-2, 1 yr's worth tax return, as well as copy of last 3 pay stubs.
