Ok the father to 2 of my children witch I have full/sole coustdy of.... is little over 5,000 behind in child support in the state of ky.... he lives in Missouri..... I recently called child support office and they said that they was taking my case to the supreme courts that they have tried everything to get him to pay and he still won't.... what dose this mean??? He hasn't had any contact what so ever with my kid for going on about 5 years now... need help don't know what I should do??
If the child support office stated they are taking your case to the Supreme Court then they must have an action that is pending on appeal or the matter would not likely be going to the Supreme Court. Private attorneys are often able to pursue actions that the Child Support office isn't able to pursue due to their caseload. You may want to speak with an attorney in your area to see what your options are. If the other parent is disabled or has no funds it may be more much more difficult to obtain child support than if the other parent works or otherwise has funds but still doesn't pay.
Although I am an attorney practicing law in Nebraska, the answer I provide is for general purposes only and does not establish an attorney-client relationship. If you need legal advice, you should contact an attorney who will discuss with you the specific facts of your case.
