I want to change from B2 to F1 as school resume spring 2017. What should myThe New status and effective date of change
There are some very strict rules to follow to change status from B-2 to F-1. I suggest you work or in the very least consult with an attorney. Good luck!
This response is general in nature and cannot be construed as legal advice, given that not enough facts are known. Any comments offered on Avvo are of a general nature only, and are not meant to create an attorney-client relationship. You are encouraged to seek independent and private counseling for a complete review of your case.
If you are planning on visiting the U.S. consulate to request the F-1 visa you will need the FORM I-20 and proof that you lack immigrant intent. If you are planning in filing the FORM I-539 with USCIS to attend school during the Spring semester , USCIS may not approve the change in that USCIS will not adjudicate the request for months and the Spring semester will have ended. I suggest that visit a qualified and experienced immigration attorney to assist you. Good luck to you.
Consult with an experienced immigration attorney as my colleagues mentioned there are strict requirements to meet when applying for COS from B-1/B-2 to F-1.
