Is there legal services that will assist low-income (SSD/SSI) people with traffic citations in Florida specifically careless driving citation? A vehicle was rear ended because it could not move due to the vehicle in front of it using their cell phone. No damages were cause it just tapped the back of the other vehicle but the driver wanted to get the police involved. The driver also told the officer it wasn’t the driver who rear ended him their fault. He said the woman in front of him was on her cell phone so she didn’t move when the light turned green which caused him to stay idle in the lane although the light was green.
Amazing how vehicles cause these accidents on thier own without the input of their drivers. Sorry, no, there is no free lawyers for ANYONE for civil traffic tickets nor special privilege of the poor or disabled to crash into vehicles in front of them and avoid the consequences. This is ENTIRELY the following driver's fault regardless of what the drivers in front were doing or say.

I know of no such service for traffic citations.
If you were cited and want to fight the citation issued, you should not attempt to do so by yourself as you do not have the legal acumen or the experience to do so successfully.
Contact an experienced defense attorney who specializes in traffic citation defense. He or she may not be able to get the charges completely dismissed but may at the very least mitigate any penalties against you and may be able to keep any points off your license.
You can use the “Find a lawyer” link at the top of the screen for the names of attorneys in your area.
Most legal aid clinics offer only assistance limited to family law and domestic abuse cases. Conversly, the Public Defender's Office offers assistance to indigent people charged with a crime. Because a "careless driving" infraction is a civil infraction (not a criminal case), you most likely would not qualify for representation by the public defender's office. Additionally, because it is only a traffic ticket, you are not required to have an attorney represent you before the traffic magistrate.
You can call some local traffic attorneys to see what there fees are. Traffic infractions do not entitle the defendant to a public defender and to my knowledge legal aide does not handle traffic infractions.
Wishing you good luck.
