I'm trying to help my boyfriend file for divorce and get joint custody of his kids. the mom has custody and is receiving 500 a month yet the kids pretty much live with us, they haven't paid much attention to the court program they were given in 2013. we have been taking care of them since february of 2018 thats almost 12k in over paid child support. the kids already choose where they are going to be for themselves i just dont know if the court needs a document stating that.
You can do this only in very narrow circumstances in which you have full custody; in your case, you will have to request an official modification of time-share and a corresponding modificaiton of support. However, when you attempt this, the other parent will fight you on custody because they don't want to lose support. Pick you battles carefully.
