There was a fight between two people i know and one of them got a protective order against the one that went to jail
If there is no court order prohibiting the protected person from contacting the defendant/respondent, the protected person can contact that person any time.
If the defendant/respondent contacts the protected person while the court order is in effect, the defendant/respondent will end up in jail even if the protected person wants the contact.
If the court order has expired, that particular court order is no longer in effect.
