I deliberately switched inspection sticker from my sold car to the other car I have . The reason being is that old car had valid inspection sticker ,while second car's one expired . I didn't renew it on time due to windshield crack and switching insurance , so I was just trying to win a little time till I can replace the windshield in a second car and take it for inspection.
I want to now if I will go to a court without a layer and will show judge proof that windshield has been replaced and new inspection sticker was obtained my ticket can be dismissed.
From what i gathers online this is Class 1 misdemeanor, but I do not have any other records at all .
Is it better not to risk it and go with the layer or try to go n my own ?
If you go to General District Court and show the judge that you're now in compliance, he/she may dismiss as complied with law. If this doesn't work, you have 10 days to appeal the case to the Circuit Court where you have another chance of trying to convince a judge to reduce/dismiss the charge. You could hire a lawyer for this appeal.
