I signed a divorce decree in a state that has an equality law. Assets are split 50:50 from time of marriage to divorce. For some strange reason the calculations were set for 8 years instead of 6 1/2. I trusted my attorney who overlooked this calculation error. I want a second opinion. I believe this will be corrected.
The mediator who is a court appointed judge said I was entitled to a 50:50 split along with the attorney's on both sides. The calculation is wrong. Can this be corrected ? The law on this is very clear.
You would need to consult with an attorney in the state where the decree was signed/entered. This doesn't sound like something done in KY, so a KY attorney would not be able to give advice.
Responses are general in nature and do not create an attorney-client relationship. For specific advice it is advisable you retain legal counsel of your choosing.
