Can the city make me vacate a house Im trying to own due to it not being a registered rental?property?
The city is forcing my family to vacate a home due to it not being a registered rental property. The home owner has passed and the house is now in foreclosure. We lived here with the deceased son who left the property and hasn't returned. He left the home trashed and we have done all the work to clean it up and are doing repairs. We want to try and purchase the home but unsure if its possible. I plan to contact the bank the deceased used to obtain the the home in efforts to take over the mortgage but the city is trying to kick us out due to it not being a registered rental property. Is there anything we can do to stay in the home. I have children and money invested. Only the city has served us with notices to vacate. The son and granddaughter of the deceased hasn't served any legal eviction notices.

Yes, the city can force you to vacate, and I've never heard of a bank deal with anyone other than the estate in this scenario.
