I’ve happily rented the same apartment for 5 years.
My landlord is fine, the issue is with the building management and HOA.
Last year the building HOA and management decided to implement a new system that shuts off the AC in the building at night.
The AC automatically shuts off when a thermostat they’ve set outside very high on the roof on the 18th floor hits 52 degree. Obviously this has nothing to do with how hot my bedroom gets when they do this.
As a results of this I’ve been waking up every night at 4am and can’t go back to bed. This is seriously affecting my health and I feel restless. This is really messing with my life because I just can’t sleep!
Ironically everything was fine all summer because the AC is not shut off but when winter hits right now I’m waking every night in a hot, sweaty airless bedroom.
I’ve asked the manager in writing multiple times to stop this practice but they just won’t stop. They’ve said that they do this because it saves the duration of the chiller by using it less.
Can I legally force to stop doing this so I can get my health back!
