I was recently pulled over for stopping at a no stop zone for less than a minute. My registration is expired and I have no insurance. The lack of registration was marked as a correctable offense. The penalty is $900, which is likely more than what my car is worth in its current state. My court date is in a week and I will not have the money by then, especially as I was told to get insurance and pay for the registration prior to the court date. To make the situation even worse, I am a broke college student who may not even be able to make payments on a payment plan. What are my options at the moment
You can ask for a payment plan, get a part time job, and stop driving unregistered, uninsured cars. Sell the current one as you clearly cannot afford it.
I am not your attorney and don't know anything about your problem. Do not rely on my response other than as information used to hire an actual attorney.
you could ask the judge to reduce the fine or allow you to "work" it off with community service. Careful what you wish for.
