My daughter has had an IEP since she was 2. In Kindergarten, she had a modified day due to doctor's letter stating that she should have a late start due to her health issues. This was implemented in K, 1st, 2nd and most of 3rd until the school gave me a hard time about her tardies and absences and I realized it was no longer in her IEP. I have two way more extensive doctor's note now and the school is telling me that they won't honor the doctors' requests. I understand if they don't agree with outside educational advice but this is my daughter's health and only the doctors understand this. Can they do this? Isn't it discrimination? Thank you.

It is actually the OPPOSITE of discrimination - it is treating your child the same as all others. The school need not honor YOUR doctor instructing them on how to run their school. They do not have to honor it. What matters is whether the IEP itself lets her do that or if the school doctor tells them they must. If you feel it is necessary to the IEP you must request that it be put in. If they refuse you must take them to court and be prepared to get your doctor to testify that it is medically necessary.
