I have already established paternity, am paying child support, and have been trying for months to find my 19 month old son's mom to serve a visitation petition. It appears she has vanished, and so have her parents. I cannot find them anywhere online, they sold their house, and they do not show up on any paid background check service. I dont know what to do. Im in NYS, outside the city, and the mom's last known address is in queens.
Absent a court order a parent cannot be held in contempt for taking a child out of the jurisdiction. I would suggest you consult with an attorney immediately.
You may also have to hire a private investigator to locate them. While one parent may leave the jurisdiction without consulting the other parent, there also may be consequences for interfering with the other parent's parenting time. You do need a lawyer.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
