On the plus side for your wife's case, if she fell due to the defective condition of the stairs that is strong. On the negative side, presumably your wife was aware of the loose boards, and the defense will ask what she did to try and get the situation fixed, wasn't she aware of the loose boards etc. Whether a lawyer wants to take this case probably depends on the extent of your wife's injuries. If she had one ER visit and no follow up care and no residual injury, the landlord's insurance company may decide it can refuse to pay because it won't be that attractive to file suit on. So much of the answer to your question depends on specific facts.
If you can find a lawyer willing to take her case then yes she can find a lawyer.
Please do not message or call me unless you are a serious prospective client. The discussions would be outside this forum and would not be visible to the public. If you have additional follow up questions or additional facts to add, re-draft them into a new question and post the new question. Only a written retention agreement signed by client and myself will establish an attorney-client relationship.
