Your son should notify the dealer and the bank immediately, before going forward. Unless I miss my guess, the dealer will want to re-write the contract to exclude the costs of the extended warranty, because their main interest is in selling the car. If they re-write the contract do not sign it--unless you still want the car without the extended warranty.
