I did make wrong choices. I engaged in drugs, alcohol, gangs and was irresponsible to the point that i will be going to prison. I have been in jail for about a year. Now that t I am clean sober no drugs, alcohol and not around gangs, I feel I can change. I can prove to be a great father to my son. I will go to counseling, drug and alcohol programs, whatever it takes to be well for my child
How long will you be in prison? If, for example, you will be incarcerated until after the son is 18 or older, you will not be getting any parenting time with the son while you are incarcerated. That is, there would not be anyway for you to exercise any parental right while you are incarcerated.
"Can my parental rights be terminated if I'm going to prison?" If the court is convinced that you are a danger to the child, the court can end your parental rights.
Is the mother of the child looking to end your parental rights? If she does not want to end your parental rights and she is a fit parent, the state is probably not going to want to do anything to end your parental rights.
