My mother and her new husband paid for flowers, and food for my wedding and helped us a few times with food because we would other wise have went hungry. My wedding was July 11,2017. She is now angry at me and in a tight with money and is threatening to sue. I never signed anything saying I’d pay. She says we owe them 4,000. The flowers were 400. The food was cocktail smokies and other small finger foods . We will not did for about 85 guests. I’m not sure where 4000 comes in to play.
It sounds like you have a good defense. You are probably correct that your mother is in a tight financial situation. It is unlikely she would incur the expense of pursuing a lawsuit based on the facts you describe.
