My mother is waiting on a settlement and is currently living in a nursing home going through rehab and she wants to know if it's possible if she can start trying to buy a house before she leaves the nursing home and what are the policies in the procedures for that?
While there is no law or rule that prohibits a person from purchasing property while in a nursing home the fact is that no seller will accept a cash offer from a buyer without "proof of funds" that they actually have the money available to make the purchase. Proof of funds is a letter from a bank stating the money is on deposit. Once the settlement money arrives your mother will be able to make a cash offer on a home. Good luck!
