Generally speaking, not. Specifically, if you need proof of status for international travel or for employment, you really need a "Foreign passport that contains a
temporary I-551 stamp" (see USCIS Form I-9).
No, a form 797 fee receipt for having filed an I-90 is not proof of legal status in the US.
Make an InfoPass appointment and ask for a I-551 stamp in your unexpired foreign passport.
