My husband recently traveled to a country that allows polygamy and has married another woman there without divorcing me here in the United States. Is this legal? Does his action break any laws in the United States? This there any legal action I can take besides filing for divorce? Can this count as polygamy/bigamy in the United States and can I report this to the police?
New York has a bigamy statute..........

Likely, the controlling factor will be whether that country has entered into any agreements with the United States that touch on domestic issues such as marriage. If the other country and the US do not share diplomatic relations and political acknowledgement, there may be no way to enforce the bigamy because US law would not recognize the other country's marriage. You may want to speak with an immigration attorney to clarify the specific details regarding this issue.

While there is a bigamy statute, it is never enforced. You should hire a matrimonial law attorney and proceed from there to divorce.
