I got a call from my aunt on the mother side that my dad who i didn't grow up with is trying to get a copy of my birth certificate and social. Him and his no good a** sister have a history of putting stuff in my siblings names and messing up their credit. Both have been arrested for other crimes as well. My aunt and I think they're up to something sneaky and illegal. I want to know what can I do to stop them from getting my documents, using it for whatever reason, and how can I get them in trouble by the law if they do? I am 24, married, and have 2 kids. I can't afford for them to ruin my life financially. I'm already seeing a change in my credit score. My sister owes people a lot of $$$. I can't be in that situation. Help.
The short answer is "No", your father may not use your birth certificate and/or social security for whatever he wants. I'm sure there is much more information to learn regarding this situation and a consumer protection attorney such as our law firm may be able to help you at No Cost. Feel free to contact us to discuss further. In the meantime, pull a complete copy of your credit report to see if there are accounts on your credit that you do not recognize.
