So, a coworker just quit and my employer has me covering his time so i will now be working from last tuesday, 7/14 to at least next sunday 7/26 with no days off. I'm a part time employee but i'm scheduled for 39 hours next week. Is this legal?
In California, there is a state law that generally prohibits employers from forcing employees to work more than 6 days in a week. But California law may be different from Utah state law in this respect. However, I doubt that an attorney would want to take on this case if it is a "one-off" instance. Seek a local attorney in your state and if there is a state agency (i.e. a Utah Labor Commissioner) to consider bringing this grievance to as well.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
