hi i have worked for my employer for around 2 years, when recently they let me take control of/run there kiosk. i was basically the owner i had to pay all the rent, utilitys, as well as pay the employees and buy new product. basically i was subleasing but we never signed a sublease. my employer/partener at this point, has no llegal right to do this because as i found out mall managment does not allow subleasing of any kind which i didnt know until now. so now im trying to give the kiosk back after only 2 weeks and they are trying to tell me if i dont work another 2 weeks with no pay they will keep me from getting hired at the new place i want to work. so far i have worked over 100 hrs with no pay and now im scared of not getting my new job what can i do!!
Nobody can make sombody WORK FOR FREE!
There are MINIMUM WAGE LAWS IN EVERY STATE.
Hand them a bill for your hours. See what they do.
Additionally . . . if they INTERFERE with your NEW
JOB you may have a lawsuit against them. Tell them
you'll sue them and own this kiosk if they interfere
with your other (new) job. You need to get TOUGH
with these IDIOTS now!!! Talk to a local attorney.
If these guys let you SUBLEASE then REPORT them
to the mall. The mall will fine them or remove them.
Just QUIT and file for unemployment in Nevada.
