My boyfriend lost his license, well he went and got a temporary id but that one is expired! He found out recently that he has a warrant in Michigan for Probation Violation! If he goes in to get a drivers license will he be able to or will the warrant show up in the system?
The answer to this question probably depends on whether your boyfriend has a suspended license from Michigan. Having an outstanding warrant in another state does not necessarily, in and of itself, cause your license to be suspended here. However, having a suspended license from another state usually does. So, the question would be whether your boyfriend's outstanding warrant has caused his driver's license privileges to be suspended in Michigan. If so, then his license privileges will likely be suspended here as well. If that is the case, then he will likely need to take the steps necessary to get the warrant cleared up in Michigan, which he really should do anyway to avoid much larger problems in the future.
Please be aware that this response does not constitute the formation of an attorney-client relationship between you and me. I am licensed to practice in Colorado only. Unless I indicate otherwise, my answer is based on general legal principles, and not necessarily the laws of your state or the particular facts of your situation.
He should he able to get a license here in CO. The DMV usually does not check for warrants because the system used for license checks is not the same used by the criminal justice system. MI is not part of the same system that 44 other states and CO use, so the CO DMV will probably not know his locense is suspended there unless he tells them.
