I got two garnishment summons from this company. Both were for the same principal amounts (S9,270 and interest the same $16,790). I do not understand how this could be. One of them is about 12 years old. I closed the other account 2 or 3 years ago and they said I owed them $300.00. How can you close an account and owe someone. I never gave it any credence because I knew I did not owe them. I made it known to them, now they are saying I owe them $9,270. that is a bold face lie. Bank of America I owed them $500.00 and was trying to pay it back. but life got in the way. I am on VA disability and these institutions are lying about what I owe them. Both were filed in the same court system and the same clerk signed them.
You should consult an attorney and challenge the garnishment. You can claim exemptions. Try your area legal aid. They have consumer law clinics. https://www.laseva.org
