Can I work with EAD card but no SSN?
I received my EAD card 2-3 weeks ago after my case for Adjustment of Status was approved. I requested SSN while I applied for work permit. However, when I called the local SSA, I learned that Homeland and Security hasn’t applied for my SSN yet. I want to learn if I can start working while waiting for my SSN
Yes, you can start working without an SSN if you have an employment authorization document. Once you receive your SSN you must give it to your employer.

It is up to you, not the USCIS to apply for an SS card. However, you can work since you have an EAD.
