I am a research scientist as a university, and I'm on H1B. A company did a video interview with me. Initially I thought it would be free, but then they said they had to offer money as part of the release form. The form says I can accept $100 or donate it directly to a charity of my choosing. If I choose the charity, am I still violating the H1B terms?

If you find my answer to your question helpful, please mark it “HELPFUL” or “BEST ANSWER”. Please note, however, that we have not formed an attorney-client relationship and my answer is not legal advice. To be represented by me or another attorney, you will need to discuss the specific facts of your case in detail and sign a retainer agreement. Good luck!
