I have a four year deferral for possession of child pornography and I am doing probation for the 3 misdemeanors. I want to travel to Los Angles to meet some friends and go to a convention. My friend will pick me up at the airport in SF and I will stay with him one night. No one there is under 18. We will travel to LA and meet some more friends and share a hotel room. Then attend the convention the next day and spend one more night in the hotel and then come back home.
You must confirm this with the monitoring agency of your DPA and your agent. You may not leave the State without permission and a travel pass. Good luck.
This depends upon the specific rules of your deferral agreement. If you have a probation agent, talk to the agent about what you can and cannot do regarding travel out of the state. If the agent says "No.", then accept that and move on. Sometimes having restrictions on your life is exactly why you don't want to get into trouble and get placed on probation/supervision. Remember, probation and the rules involved are the alternative to being locked up behind bars. The deferral is probably an agreement that gives you a HUGE benefit if you are successful. Don't let your desire to attend a convention in LA ruin your deferral (and, thus, the rest of your life). When your deferral and your probation are successfully completed, you can attend all of the conventions you want.
