I have an Indian Passport and it expires this October - 2019. Have a valid US work visa till Dec 2021 & Canadian visitor visa till Oct - 2019. I plan to travel to Canada this month (15-May) for just few days and back to the US on 20-May. Is it fine to travel out of the US when my passport validity is less than 6 months ? Is there any rule or US Immigration law that says that I am not suppose to travel to the US if my passport is not validity is less than 6 months. I have valid US Visa till Dec 2020.
Can the Immigration Officer look at the validity and raise questions at the Port of Entry.
(Renewing my passport in the next few days is not an option - So don't put this option as your recommendation)
You're not going to like this, but I would advise you not to leave for that trip. As you know, the general rule is that you should have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your planned re-entry...and CBP has a tremendous amount of latitude when allowing/denying someone entry to the US. Under this gov't, don't give them any reason to make your life miserable...and for a 5-day trip. Renew that passport, then plan to go. I know that's easy for me to say here, but I'm just being straight-up.
