I have been with my boyfriend for 13 years we have 3 children, he gave me an engagement ring 1 and a half years ago, he is abusive to me, I am leaving him, do I get to take the ring or do I need to leave it. I live in texas. Can I also take my children out of state where my family resides? Which either way I have to I can't stay near him or he will harm me. Ten years ago I called the cops on him the first time he put his hands on me but did not press charges. About a year ago I called but when they got here I denied calling them. So there is no documentation of his abuse.
He keeps the ring if you're the one to leave.
You can move if there are no orders restricting the children's residence. However, if he files immediately after you move, the court might require you to move back.
