Hi, I have a valid EAD and I-485 is being processed. I am currently working as a medicine attending/hospitalist. Can I start fellowship (training further in medicine) at a new program in a different state on the current EAD before getting my green card? Thank you for your time.
If you change employers your I-485 can still be approved your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days, the new job is in the same/similar occupational category, and the new employer is willing to sign Supplement J to I-485. It may be possible to continue working with current employer and, in addition to that, start the second program if you can handle the workload and schedule. If this is an EB1 self-petition case there could be more flexibility. Discuss in detail with current immigration lawyer.
