I am an uber driver, independent contractor. They refuse to unblock my airport trip access even though it is clearly against THEIR terms.
Uber terms of service last updated on 11/25/2019 state the following:
I acknowledge and agree that Company is a technology services provider that
DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES.
Company DOES NOT AND SHALL NOT BE
DEEMED TO DIRECT OR CONTROL YOU GENERALLY OR IN YOUR PERFORMANCE under this Agreement SPECIFICALLY, including in connection WITH YOUR PROVISION OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, your acts or omissions.
YOU RETAIN THE SOLE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHEN, WHERE and for how long you will utilize the driver app or the Uber Services. YOU RETAIN THE OPTION, via the Driver App, to attempt TO ACCEPT OR TO DECLINE OR IGNORE a User’s request for Transportation Services via the Uber Services, OR TO CANCEL AN ACCEPTED REQUEST FOR TRANSPORTATION SERVICES via the Driver App..
Blocking my airport access due to cancellations is clearly Uber CONTROLLING me based on MY PERFORMANCE, while not granting me THE SOLE RIGHT TO ACCEPT, DECLINE, IGNORE OR CANCEL requests for TRANSPORTATION SERVICES which Uber has clearly stated THEY DO NOT PROVIDE.
I think more information is needed to properly answer your question. Some airports regulate who can pick up at the airport. I am vaguely aware that some airports have imposed restrictions on Uber rides to/from their airport. I am not sure, but Uber may be complying with the terms of the regulations imposed by airport authorities. You should either pose more details in your question or look at the airport in question and their governing body to see what rules exist in regard to Uber.
