Victims: Wife, husband, their 2 year old child and child's case worker
Abuser: Restaurant owner
Scene: In a mall's food court. Husband goes to refill his own drink at the nearest soda machine which is different from where they bought their food. The owner of that restaurant then follows the husband back to their table and slams on the table. Begins yelling, harassing and accusing of stealing. Wife tells him not to yell since the husband is deaf. Owner covers his ears and mocks being deaf too. Calls the husband a dumb mother f*** and he will not allow a mute to steal from him. Owner demands $5 and the case worker says the drink is not worth that much and hands him the correct amount. Owner throws the money and continues harassment. Also snatched a personal belonging from the wife's hands.
This is not a child abuse matter. I am sorry you had to endure this outrage. You should repost in the personal injury section. However, you may get more satisfaction if you report this issue to the mall oweners as this person is probably costing the mall money.
An attorney is not likely to invest his time and money in this case because it is unlikely to win much of anything. The proprietor overreacted but he did not cause you any real recoverable damages for his antics.
