county put $9,000 lien on my house from a code violation that was 10 years old and then another for having the violation fixed. these violations were 10 years old and from 5 years before i bought the house. The county did not do proper job in bookkeeping and miss a 6 year old release of the lien. Sine then people been calling me to buy MY DISTRESSED HOUSE . This has caused Great Stress in my life do to im disabled and bed ridden with cancer. the first notice was given to me with 8 days to fix the violation "OR ELSE"
Sure, anyone can sue anyone for anything. However, it might be easier, cheaper (and less stressful) to retain a good local municipal law attorney or real estate litigator to persuade the City to remove any inappropriate liens. What's more, "slander of title" (i.e., what you would sue FOR) typically requires actual "damages" - and, as opposed to losing a contracted sale, or being denied a mortgage, etc.- "stress" alone is not likely to be compensable.
Hope this helps.
