Divorced in 2014.
Ex-husband was told to divorce me or be written out of his own father's will
I received no compensation or legal advice; only papers to sign.
25 year marriage.
Ex-husband and I had a verbal agreement that when his father died, we would share in the estate settlement.
I was told to leave the home in 2015 with no monetary compensation.
An attorney is not permitted to represent both sides in a Family Law proceeding, so unless you have proof that the lawyer represented YOU, it is unlikely that you can sue him/her. However, the best way to determine same would be seek a consultation with an attorney in your area whom is family with Family Law and Malpractice Law to review same with you to see if you have a claim.
The answer provided is a general answer to a general question - and should NOT be construed as my giving specific legal advice, nor does it create any attorney/client relationship or expectation of privilege - and should you have specific questions you seek to address, then I encourage you to seek a consultation with an experienced Family Law Attorney in your area who may discuss your case with you and give you specific advice to assist you.
You will need to see an attorney now as an attorney cannot represent both sides so that didn't happen in any court. It sounds like you had no attorney and signed sky paperwork his attorney prepared without fully reading it or hiring your own lawyer to review it. It may be too late now to fix it. And you cannot sue an attorney who was not your attorney as he/she has no duty to advise you of your rights; hat is the risk of not having your own lawyer in a civil case. You only have a right to counsel in a criminal case.
